COPYRIGHTS
A copyright is a right in an original work of authorship such as a book, painting, jewelry design, or computer software. The owner of a copyright is entitled to exclude other people from using the copyrighted work without the owner's permission. The Library of Congress maintains a database of all copyright registrations, and the Copyright Office within the Library examines copyright applications for legal sufficiency.
If you are the author of a new work, the Chaney Law Firm can assist you in obtaining a copyright registration. For most types of applications, we will need biographical information about you (such as when you were born) as well as three copies of the work.
